The Changing Face of Telecoms in Social Housing

The UK Social Housing market is in a state of change. The availability of public sector resources is reducing whilst the pressure to build and maintain increased numbers of homes is increasing. Social Housing providers are therefore facing the classic “more with less” dilemma.

With an estimated £15bn being invested by Social Housing providers by 2015, the need to be as efficient as possible has never been stronger.

BBW have provided consultancy services to social housing providers for almost 20 years and we understand the unique challenges and problems involved. Given the current challenges, BBW understand the benefit that modern telecoms infrastructure can make in increasing efficiency, enhancing services to residents and reducing costs.

Over the last 10 years many Registered Providers have moved to VoIP and, in many cases, have obtained some technical benefits, such as increased resilience. However, the benefits to service users have been limited and costs virtually unchanged.

The situation is now changing with the ability to make transformational changes to service provision by the use of disruptive technology. The move to mobile, use of tablets, unified communications and an entirely different service model allow major changes without a large cost associated with technology investments in the past.
